The Daily Decision

the-daily-decision-2We live in a busy, busy world. Every minute of everyday seems occupied with things we need to do. We have decision after decision that needs to be made. What to make for breakfast, what to wear, who to go see later… the list goes on and on. But the most important decision we need to make each and every day is the choice to follow Jesus. This isn’t a one time thing. He calls us to pick up our cross daily in Luke 9:23.

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

God loves us so much that he lets us live the life we choose to live. He doesn’t force us to follow Him. We have to make that choice. So, what’s it look like to follow Jesus daily? It means to pray to Him, always remember you are in His presence and act accordingly. It means to try your best not to sin but if you do, run to Him for forgiveness. It means to be in His Word so you will come to know and understand Him better. It means to act like Him, love like Him. He is there to guide you, but you have to choose. What choice will you make today, tomorrow?

When I first decided I would take up my cross, deny myself, and follow Jesus, I was in a very dark and sinful place and I wanted out. It occurred to me that if I followed Jesus, I could find my way out through Him. Don’t let our enemy deceive you and lead you away from God even for one day. We have to wake up with God on our minds and go to bed the same.

You won’t be perfect at it, neither was I. But each and every day that you pick up your cross, look to the one true living God, and choose to live your life the best way you know how to please Him, the joy and freedom you will experience is so amazing. It’s available to you, just choose to receive it. And don’t forget in this busy world whose child you are.
