Who is your refuge and your fortress?

30-ways-toThere was this time in my life that I like to call the rebuilding phase. After a messy divorce, wrecked credit, and adjusting to a new environment my children and I needed refuge. We needed a fortress. During that awful time years ago I learned something…I call it the hedge.

Now my Granny always said in her prayers with her sweet southern draw, “Lord please put a hedge of protection around my baby. Keep your angels at the front-back-underneath-top-and sides”. I never knew what she meant until that season of life hit me.

It was her way of praying psalm 91:2.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

I want to encourage you today to remember that no matter how bad what your going through feels you do have a fortress. You do have a refuge. We have a real enemy his name is satan and he would love for you to believe that you are all alone. He would love for you to believe that your situation is hopeless, unfixable, and destitute. I want to tell you that is so far from the truth. There is only one thing required on your part -trust. It wasn’t over night but God did fix my story. He gave it a beautiful twist. He brought joy back into our lives. He put the pieces back together for my family.

Mark Batterson said in the book Circle Maker, “You can’t always never tell what God might do today”. That is so true! God has proven in my life that he can take the homeless to corporate CEO and the hopeless to evangelism. There is no limits.

May things start to turn around for you today. May you be encouraged. I hope that you will now pray psalm 91:2 over your life and wait expectantly to see what our Almighty God will do for you.#BeEncourage
