The Average-Blah-yuck-but you can’t complain day.

pacing-inwriting

There is this thing I started asking my kids when I pick them up from school I say, “What are your roses and what are your thorns?” My children surprised me with, “I was all stems today mom”. I thought for a second and then I asked for clarification. My son Ayden said,

“You kno0000w… it ‘s an average-blah-yuck-but you can’t complain day.” I was speechless. Out of the mouth of babes! Have you ever had a day like that?

“You kno0000w… it ‘s an average-blah-yuck-but you can’t complain day.” I was speechless. Out of the mouth of babes! Have you ever had a day like that? I have had plenty. I find that those days are the days where I can miss the really awesome things God is doing in my life. For one thing what does a stem do? It puts space between the roses and the thorns. What if your rose bud of days were all connected? Do you think that if our good- best -awesome days were all in rows we would appreciate them as much?

Oh and the bad days. If I had all the bad days I have ever had connected with no separation I might not have survived. I have had some pretty bad days. Today I am reminded of how important those unimportant days are for our well being and our healing. I am going to defiantly celebrate those mundane days by thanking God for them. I want to ask you to thank God for your average-blah-yuck-but you can’t complain days too.

Here is a prayer of us today:

God we know that the average and mundane day is necessary just like the stem is necessary to a rose with thorns. We thank you for those days and the downtime, stability, and healing that they bring. In Jesus name-Amen.
