Ladies, whether you are a sports fan, former sports player, soccer mom, or just have to watch sports because your husband is a fanatic, you know that in every game, the players have a game plan. As women, we oftentimes make a game pan when it’s nothing to even do with sports! We make a game plan to go to the grocery store for example. I think, ok, I’m going to go to the non food aisles first, then to the boxes and cans, then the freezer aisle, and last the bread so it doesn’t get squashed. We strategize things like that. Just like those players do in sports games. In sports, the other team is the opponent. In the grocery store, time is my opponent! We strategize and try to get one up on our opponent. We do our best to win. In life we have a very real unseen opponent. It is our number one enemy, satan. To him, our life is a game, a game of war. He wants us to fail. He wants us to lose. He wants victory. He will try every trick shot he has to cause you to stumble, fall, drift away, to have chaos control your life, to tell you that you are not free, to try to convince you that you are not already victorious in Christ Jesus. We have to strategize against the enemy’s attacks. We have to have a game plan. To begin our game plan, we must get in the Word of God. It’s the ultimate playbook for your life. The first verse we can use to strategize is 1 Peter 5:8 which says: Be sober-minded and watchful because our adversary the devil prowls like a lion seeking someone to devour.
So game play number 1:
Be on the look out for the devil’s schemes. Keep your mind sober by reading the Word of God daily so that you are not deceived.
Paul tells us in Ephesians about how to put on the armor of God to stand against the devil’s schemes. He describes many pieces of armour, and tells that we should wear them ALL in Ephesians 6:11.
So game play number 2: Put on ALL the armour of God, the belt of truth, the body armor of God’s righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit, and prayer at all times.
Then, the last verse I will go to for the game plan of standing firm against the devil is my favorite verse. And it is James 4:7 that says: therefore submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
So game play number 3: Submit yourself to God every morning. Tell Him you are His servant to do His works today, that He is Lord of your life. And when the devil comes tempting you, stirring things up in your life, resist him, and the Word promises that he will flee from you.
I don’t know about you, but I like to win. I like having the one up. I like seeing satan defeated everyday. Don’t go into your game, your fight, your life without a strategy. The enemy has his game plan, you should have yours.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
