Being thankful for the small things

We all have our routines that we do each day.  Routines can be a great thing, but they can also cause us to be mindless. We go from task to task without stopping to smell the roses.  We wake up, take the dog out, make breakfast, take a shower, wake up the kids, etc. Do you find yourself forgetting to give thanks while you are caught up in your day to day routine?

Recently, I have tried to catch myself being mindless. I will be doing my thing in the morning, then next thing I know it’s time for work and I have not once said. “Thank you Lord for all of my blessings.” Once I realize this, I have to quickly repent because I do have so much to be thankful for. 

If you struggle with being mindless at times, start out small! Small praises of thanks can make a BIG difference in your prayer life. Take time during your routine to stop and show God how grateful you are. I have challenged myself to practice these small praises each day. Thank God that you have a warm bed that is SO hard to crawl out of in the morning. Thank God that you have food to eat each day. Be thankful for the warm shower that you are able to take. Just think small! 

Let us all try our best to make the most of our same old routines. Let us transform these routines into a time of praise and worship to The Lord!
