We are all well aware that we live in a broken and sinful world. We have been broken and sinful, lost and wondering ourselves. Thank God that by His grace we were saved. But we are still living among others who are not. We are affected by their sin as well. We know what God has done for us, how He has changed our hearts and our lives. I don’t know about you, but I want so badly for others to feel that same saving grace that by the blood of Christ was offered to me. I want others to be free from the sin they are a slave too like I was freed. I want others to experience a peace that is amazing like Christ has given to me. I find myself praying so hard day and night for those people in my life, who I love so much, who seem to be lost or wondering, stuck in their sin, and hurting. I know that they must want a different life. So I pray for them. I beg and plead with God to open their hearts for Him to come in. I often approach them and try to share Jesus with them, only to be rejected, time and time again. In the same effect, sometimes those others in our lives who aren’t a Christ follower sin against us. They may say and do hurtful things to us. They may mock us, scoff at what we try to do to further the kingdom of God. And in those times, we repay their deeds with kindness. We get up and put a smile on our face and hope for a better day. We pray they will change. We pray that love would pour out of us even when we don’t feel like loving. We do it day in and day out, over and over again.
Sometimes I wonder if all my efforts are for nothing.
Do you ever feel that way? Is there someone in your life who you desperately plead with God to help them? Is there someone in your life who is so hurting by their own mistakes and past that they seem to take it all out on you, and you try and try to still be good and loving to them? Do you have someone who everyone else seems to have lost all hope for but you are holding onto it and hoping for a miracle?
It is easy in those hard times with people who just don’t seem to hearing what you wish they would or doing what you wish they would to just give up. It’s easy for the enemy to tell you that God isn’t hearing the countless prayers you’ve prayed for that person. It can be easy for us to lose hope in those difficult situations. It can be easy for us to fall into the temptation of not being who God calls us to be and have actions that don’t align with His will toward that person. But for the enemy to not drag us down, we have to be in the Word of God and stand firm on what it says.
In Galatians 6: 9, the Scripture reads:
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
This verse tells us that all of our efforts are NOT for nothing. God wants you to keep doing good. No matter what the other person in the situation is doing, you should keep doing good. Keep praying for them. Keep showering them with love and kindness. Keep encouraging them in love even if it’s rejected. This Word is the Truth and it says that if we do not give up, at the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing. Your prayers will be answered according to God’s will in His timing. Your efforts will be rewarded. You are planting the seeds of Jesus and there will come a day of harvest!
So don’t get discouraged with the situations you find yourself in with others. Keep doing good and wait on the harvest.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
