Things to remember check list:
→You’re not broke, you’re just hurting.
→ The best medicine is merriment, a broken spirit will dry up the bones. (
→No matter what the world says, even when it doesn’t make sense your most strategic weapon is prayer.
→You’re not just here floating around like Lieutenant Dan says from Forrest Gump. You have a purpose. (…But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Exodus 9:16).
→God knit you together in your mother’s womb. Not just that but he fearfully and wonderfully made you. (Psalm 139:13-14)
→Your calling and purpose doesn’t have anything to do with what you did or will do. You can’t mess it up. God’s will, Girl it will get done regardless of our choices. However, the choices we make can determine how fulfilled we live here on this earth. (see 2 Timothy 1:9 & Proverbs 19:21)
What we need to do to shift our season:
I want to talk about fasting. When the Lord put this on my heart I was like “…but it’s the eating season Lord.” But I do believe depending on how desperate you are for a miracle or to see things change will prove your obedience regardless of the season. Maybe you have a child who is addicted to prescription medications, maybe you are desperate for resolve in your marriage, or wisdom in your finances. If you want it bad enough you will sacrifice. The sacrifice I want to talk about is fasting.
A little disclaimer that fasting isn’t a manipulation tool to get God to do what you want. Rather it is a way to gain spiritual clarity and to take back a foot hold to the things we cannot see.
Years ago I was working in fast food as a manager. I hated it. I loved the people I worked with but I just hated starving or having to depend on food stamps. I wanted a better life. I prayed and prayed for it. But I didn’t see much change. I was cosistant in prayer and praying countless times a day for at least two years and still no way out. I applied to jobs and got no phone calls. I was working 50+ hours a week and felt like I hardly saw my babies at all. This was a crucial time because they were so small then. Many nights I cried thinking Lord how will we make it? How can I give them a better life? I was a single mom at the time. Then my pastor did a series on spiritual warfare. It lasted several weeks but the week he talked about fasting a light bulb went off inside my head. That was the only thing I hadn’t tried.
I read about Daniel. When the angel came to him he told him that his prayer was heard the minute he spoke it. But the spiritual war—the battle we can’t see, had delayed his answer (Daniel 10:10-20). I have had so much trouble in my life I knew after reading that there were things which I may never understand working against me. So I kept praying and I fasted. I did the Daniel fast. I got a couple of my sisters in Christ to do it with me. Just a few months afterward I got a random phone call from someone I hadn’t spoken to in more than five years offering me a job because their mom was hiring. What are the chances? I went from a crazy schedule to normal business hours. I went from food stamps to and government housing to buying my own groceries and a house. I was thankful those things were there to help me when I needed them but I was so much more thankful to be free! Not only did I get a job I hadn’t even applied for but I wasn’t even qualified. They equipped me with the certifications I needed for that job. Which brings me to another take away I want you to remember.
→God does even more than you ask. Blesses you even more than you dream. He, like any good father wants to bless you. You will still have trouble but you will be blessed along the way.
→When he shifts your season he will equip you with what you need for that too. (Join me for part three by signing up with your email and we will talk about how God equips you in any new season.)
I am not any more special or favored than you my sweet sister. I know God has amazing things in store for you. So I just want to ask you today what will you give up to get clarity, to get your divine answer?
God does answer prayer. I have seen it to many times. We are not defenseless. Be diligent. Be valiant. Be the you that you were created to be. It is time to get serious about God’s word. It is time to believe the whole bible not just the warm and fuzzy parts. You’re not alone and you can do this no matter what you are going through.
If you need special prayer today please email us or comment below. So we can be fasting and praying for you and with you.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
