Yesterday I pointed out some things to do when you find yourself hurting with any type of emotional pain. To recap, when a situation or person hurts you:
- Don’t dwell on it.
- Forgive them just as Jesus has forgiven you.
- React to the hurt as a child of God who is loved by Him.
However, it seems that doing all of those things doesn’t cause the pain that you already have to go away. There is hurt in your mind and heart. And when you find that you can let it go and forgive and make your own reaction line up to the will of God, then you still need to be healed from that pain.
When you have a hurt, Jesus is your medicine.
His Word says in Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Jesus is the key to your healing and the key to hurting no more. You take that hurt to God in prayer. By your faith in Jesus, God hears your cries (Psalm 34:15). He will heal you! His Word says it, so it is true! Stay close to Him in prayer. Lean on Him when you are hurt. He will never hurt you. He is here for you to help you, comfort you, heal you, and make you more like Him each day.
I want to encourage you today with another passage of Scripture from 2 Corinthians chapter 4. Verses 16- 18 say this:
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Keep those verses near you. You will have people and situations caused by people in your life that cause you to have emotional hurt and pain. But if you keep your sights set on what is never ending, then the hurt on this earth just might not hurt so bad. Let Jesus heal you. Be in His Word so you know how great He is.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
