Strength in Struggles

It can be discouraging when you pray your heart out about a certain situation, and see little to no resolution. In my own life when some one I love is sick and I pray I expect God to fix it. I imagine that I will pray and poof everything will be better. But what about the times when it isn’t better? I find myself getting so angry with God when things don’t happen like I think that they should.  When I let anger take control of my emotions and thoughts, I stop praying completely. I get angry with God and stop talking to Him.  At that point, I grow cold and stay angry with everyone around me.

When I come back down from my pity party, I realize how ridiculous my actions truly are. When we are faced with a really hard situation, I feel that it is a test of our faith. God wants to know that we will be loyal to Him, even if He doesn’t answer our prayers right away. John 4:48 says “you people must see miraculous signs and wonders before you will believe in me.” This verse hit me hard. If God doesn’t fix a situation right when I want him to, then I lose all of my faith! This is the exact opposite of what God is trying to teach me. God is trying to strengthen us during our times of struggle. He is trying to give us faith that will surpass all hardships of this life.

As the saying goes, when it gets hard to pray, pray harder! God is going to show up in your struggle.

John 9:3- Jesus answered, “it was not any sin of this man or his parents that caused him to be blind. He was born blind so that he could be used to show what great things God can do.”
