New Outlook

Are you going through your days feeling defeated? Maybe when you woke up this morning you felt good, but as the day went on you got more and more down about yourself, someone else, or a situation. Have you prayed that God would work something out in you that’s not yet got to where you wish it was, maybe a habit you have or a hang up that you don’t want in your life but you can’t seem to shake it yourself? Do you just not feel like you are who you want to be, so you’re left feeling like you just can’t win? Maybe that prayer request seems to be going unanswered and you’re losing hope. Maybe you are tired of fighting the same old fight but you don’t know how to change it. I know there is someone out there right now who is saying Yes! that’s me. I’m tired. I have lost hope. It’s never going to get better. They are never going to change. I’ll never be who God says I am because I’m too messed up and I fail at this or that everyday.

If that’s you, if you are reading this and saying amen sister! I want to give you encouragement today and help you to see a new and different outlook in your life.

If you are feeling defeated, losing hope, can’t see your worth, first of all, I want to say that those feelings you have are not from God. The enemy and the world tell you to feel that way.

You are not defeated. 1 Corinthians says but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. It may seem like you are losing battle after battle here on earth. But my sister you have already won the war! No matter what circumstance comes your way, set your sight on the glorious eternity you have awaiting you! You will overcome. Live like it on earth. Don’t just save that victory for when you depart the earth. You will never be truly defeated because Jesus already gave you victory.

Your hope cannot be destroyed if your hope is in God. You serve a God who is more powerful than your mind can ever imagine. He is the same God who parted the Red Sea. The same God who raised Lazarus from the dead. The same God who gave Sara a child even though she was already past the age of childbearing. He is the same God who came to earth in the flesh as Jesus to die for your sins and save you. He is powerful. Don’t lose hope because with Him nothing is impossible (Matthew 19:26). He performed miracles then. He still does today. Build up your hope and trust in Him that His plan for you is good. Jeremiah 29:11 says for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Keep hoping because what is going on is being worked out all for your good.

You or any other person doesn’t get to define your worth. God gets that job. He created you. He made you special and unique, different from anyone else. You are worth more to Him than you know. Nothing you can do can change how much He values you. He sent His Son before you were ever here to save you. He knew you would sin and saved you anyway. He sacrificed His Son because you are worth that! See yourself as God sees you. In Christ you are righteous, holy, blameless (Colossians 1:22). You are worth dying for! That’s what God says of you. So remember that when someone tries to define your worth or when your mind tells you otherwise.

In any situation where you feel you could use a new outlook, look in the Word to get it!

May you be blessed and encouraged!
