New Beginnings

Days when I mess up, days when I’m reminded of my past, days when I am so desperate to be more like Jesus, those are the days when I am so thankful for new beginnings. God has made me new. He’s given me a new name in Christ. Today I decided to meditate on a verse that helped me to remember how gracious and merciful the God we serve is. When reading Lamentations 3:22-23, it hit me so hard that this Truth is so important to remember in our days that are filled with attacks of the enemy.

The verse says the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. Think about that! His love for you never ever stops. No matter what you do. No matter how you feel. No matter if you deserve it. His love never ceases. I need that love of the Lord when I feel so unloved. When I feel like too big of a mess, I need to recall who my God is. He is a God that has love that never stops.

The verse goes on to say his mercies never come to an end. Mercy means not getting what you deserve. We deserve punishment and death for our sins. But God gives us mercy through our faith in His Son. And this verse says those mercies He has for us never come to an end. God isn’t going to decide to give you what you deserve for your sins, for the times you messed up today or yesterday. He looks at you and gives you mercies that never end.

Next, let this sink in… The verse says they (the mercies) are new every morning. Amen! I need that. I fail God time and time again, but praise His name that every morning you wake up He has a whole new lot of mercies for you. We are a sinful people only made right by the blood of Jesus Christ and our faith in what He did. We fail. If you’re like me, everyday you need forgiveness. And God promises that everyday, He doesn’t give you what you deserve. He gives you a new set of mercy every morning.

And lastly, praise God the Father that great is Your faithfulness. He is faithful. This verse gives you truth that will never change. He is so faithful to you and to keeping His promises. He will never waiver from this Word. Meditate on that. No matter what your feelings are, your thoughts, your actions, God is faithful and remains that way now and forever.

I pray that you meditate on this verse. Let God speak what He wants into your life about this verse. Meditate on it. Believe it. Don’t give the enemy a way in to your life by doubting the Truth of this Scripture. Accept the gracious mercy and love of the Lord Christ Jesus. Be free in God’s mercy.

May you be blessed and encouraged.
