New Place

4her-24

Have you ever been reminded of your past like just when you think you put it behind you?

It could be something that reminds you of loosing a loved one, or a bad breakup, or an addiction. It could even be that thing that reminds you of a horrible & foolish choice you once made. I have been there. All those feelings, icky ones just come rushing back to us.

I want to encourage you today that the devil might want you to relive that hurt or those bad feelings but God only allows you to be reminded of your past so you can remember what he has done. It is not an issue of you thinking about what you did wrong or relieving the hurt for the sake of punishment. That is the evil side, the wrong perspective. A perspective I would expect from someone who was full of shame, or who was unloved and defeated. Grant you may very well feel some very real feeling that are not good but I am here to tell you that maybe that was who you used to be. Maybe that was who you were, defeated and overcome with bondage. But today you are not who you used to be. Neither am I. Praise God! You might not be exactly where you had hoped or exactly where you want but God is still in control. You just need to be reminded that you are shameless. You are loved. You can walk past that same person who once tormented you and hold your head up high. Because before you were of the world but now you are a child of God. Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. When Satan reminds you of your past you remind him of Gods future for your life.

“For his anger is but for a moment and his favor is for a lifetime.”Psalm 30:5

See God may have dealt with you in your sin. But that was but for a moment. Now no matter how many times you are reminded of it you can remember that his favor is for a lifetime. What the enemy wants is for us to be reminded and fall into some sort of depression or state of hopelessness. Why? So we can lose faith. It is impossible to please God without faith. But God wants you to be reminded today of his favor. Meditate on how he has provided for you since day one. How he has saved you from punishment and poverty. He has set you free and put you on a new course in a new place. It may feel like the same old town or the same old people but it’s not because you have a new place of perspective.

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3

May you be blessed and encouraged.
