Christ’s love is so great that it’s hard to even comprehend to me. It leaves me in awe every time I think about God sending His Son to die so that we have eternal life. But what amazes me even more is that the Word tells us in John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
That verse speaks so deeply to me because it shows me true love. Jesus wasn’t here to put me down for my sins. He wasn’t here to so that I could feel guilt about how sinful and shameful I have been. He came so that I could be saved. He doesn’t put down, He lifts up. He saves us and then helps us to be transformed into His image. When I read John 3:17 I am overjoyed that Christ came to save me and not condemn me for all my wrong.
When I meditated on that verse, it led me to another verse. 1 Corinthians 16:14 says let all that you do be done in love. What Christ did for us was done in love. When He came to save and not condemn, that was love. When He died on the cross for our sins, that was love. When He rose again so that we can have hope and a future, that was love.
While thinking of this verse in 1 Corinthians, I got encouraged to love more like Christ did. To not condemn those around me, but to build them up, to show grace and forgiveness, and to give them love.
It’s a shift in my focus to let everything I do be done in love. Everything. I’m praying today that we can that. Do everything in love and see how it changes the world around us. Do everything in love and see how people can be overwhelmed by Christ working through us. I feel like lives can be drastically changed if we can love like Christ did.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
