How would things change if you gave God your 100% and loved Him with all your heart, soul, and mind? That’s a question that has been on my mind. When I read in Matthew 22: 38-39 the Lord Jesus himself says that loving Him with all of your heart, soul, and mind is the greatest commandment. Not only is it the greatest of all commandments, it’s the first one too. It seems to me that doing the first commandment should come first in our walk with Jesus. But maybe you are like me and loved Him with everything for a while then seemed to give Him less and less of you. Maybe you are like me and began to forget how awesome He is and how deserving of our love He is. Maybe that’s not you and you can say that you really love Him with everything, but are you giving Him 100% of your heart, soul, and mind?
When reading these verses, it came to my mind that my life and the lives of those around me can change dramatically if I give the Lord love first and give Him all the love in all of my heart, soul, and mind. I feel like if I’m loving Him first and with 100% I’m less likely to fall into the lies and schemes of our enemy. I think by following this first and greatest commandment will bring glory and honor to Him that He so deserves. I think by obeying this command that my light for Jesus will only get brighter and brighter to shine in the lives of others. I think that listening to God’s greatest command, not just some of the time but ALL of the time, will flow over into loving others and drawing them into Christ’s kingdom.
I encourage you to think about Christ’s greatest command. Are you obeying it? Are you loving Jesus 100%? Are you overflowing with that love into the lives of others? If you feel like you can do better, don’t worry, I thought so too. Don’t get down on yourself, just choose to give Him that 100% today. Right now, in this moment, choose to love Him with everything in you all of the time.
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
