When we can help, we should. When we can do something small, it can make a big impact. When we can do something big for someone else and we are obedient to God in what He has asked you to give or do, you can experience a reward of joy, comfort, and peace in knowing that God used you to touch the life of someone else. Let us focus on others instead of ourselves.
I have to admit that I have been very selfish. I have looked to my wants and needs before others. I’ve kept walking or turned my head instead of reaching out a helping hand when I could. But God spoke to me to be reminded of what Jesus did for me. Mark 10:45 says: for even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom to many.
How can we not give of ourselves knowing Christ gave it all. He gave His service in miracles and teaching. He gave His time to so many. He gave His life for us so that we can be forgiven and live for eternity in Heaven. To honor Him and His sacrifice, to be more like Him and His image, we too should give of ourselves.
We all have something we can give. We may have that extra money that someone who is struggling needs. We may not have that but we’ve got time and helping hands. We may have comfort we can give. We may have powerful prayers we can offer for others. Whatever you have, big or small, material or not, I encourage you to give it to someone in your life who is in need.
Prayer for today: Father thank you for allowing me to serve others and serve you. I pray that any selfishness in my heart will removed and replaced with your generosity. Forgive me for when I felt you urging me to give or serve but I didn’t listen. Thank you for your forgiveness. Make me aware of the ways I can serve and impact someone’s life. Help me to hear your guiding in where you want me to help. I pray that you place someone in my path that I can help in some way this week. Thank you for always working on me and transforming my heart. Let my service be glorifying to you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
May you be blessed and encouraged.
