When I am afraid, I put my trust in you– Psalm 56:3.
How many times do we let fear conquer us? Fear stops us in our tracks from doing many of the things God calls us to do. Fear causes us to lack in our faith and know that God can see us through every situation. So on day 2 of this put on, put off challenge, I challenge you to put off fear.
The truth is that fear is not something God wants you to have, nor is it something He puts in you. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self discipline. So, if God doesn’t give us fear, then it has to come from our flesh and our enemy. Do you want to live in the ways of your flesh and desires? The way of our enemy? I can hear you shouting in your head NO! right now. So, put off that fear, and put on trust.
When you feel that fear creeping in, trade it for trust in the Lord. He is in control of all things. He knows all things, and He has a good plan for you. Trust Him and have no fear. Fear has no room in the life of a Christian. How could God use you if you didn’t let that fear get in the way? Put it off, and put on trust.
When you are having a difficult time with being fearful and trusting that God is good and will see you through, pray Psalm 28:7: The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him. Even when those words are hard to pray because your not feeling the way the verse describes, pray it anyway. It is the truth and God will work in your life through your prayers.
Prayer for today: Lord thank you for not giving me a spirit of fear. Lord thank you for letting me put my trust in you when I am afraid. Lord you are my strength and shield when I am afraid. Lord you are the one who helps me to not have fear and to trade it for trust. I pray the Holy Spirit speaks to me when I am afraid and Lord help me to trust you more and more each day. I love you Lord and thank you for helping me put off fear and put on trust. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
